PROJECT INFORMATION
Located at the northern corner of Fuxing Park in the Xitun District of Taichung City, "COZY SCHOLAR" is a community library design conceived in response to an era where digital devices and electronic information have marginalized physical books and reduced operational funding for public libraries.
Recognizing that the warmth and historical value of printed media are often overlooked, this project seeks to reintroduce users to the tangible experience and fragrance of books by seamlessly integrating a library's reading and archiving functions with café culture and adjacent park spaces. Situated at the intersection of Fuxing Road and Lane 44 of Baoqing Road—a residential area characterized by ground-floor commercial storefronts—the design addresses three core challenges: celebrating the enduring value of physical books, exploring the transition of the modern library through its fusion with a café, and strengthening the building's physical and visual connection to the surrounding park.
As a community-centric public hub, the architecture is designed to intuitively guide users through its spatial layers from the outside in, establishing a new archetype for a responsive, community-oriented library that harmonizes with its natural park environment.
